Warehouse Raid!

I hadn’t been planning on going to the Books for Less warehouse sale, because it’s quite far from my usual haunts and I had no idea how to get there. But when Flipper friend Marie asked if I wanted to go, I readily agreed — when it comes to book hunting, I really don’t need to be asked twice!

We met at another bookstore around mid-afternoon — I just had to get a copy of Suzanne Collins’ Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane, because I already finished book 1 and I had book 3 waiting at home. Then we took the MRT to EDSA Shangri-la, where fellow Flipper Jan  (thanks, Jan!) would pick us up so we could all go together (Jan discovered the warehouse sale earlier this week and reported that she had gotten over 20 books, so we were all curious about it!).

After a half-hour drive we finally reached the place, and we were overwhelmed by the number of books that greeted us!

We didn’t know where to start!

Books!

Books!

And more books!

It was pretty well-organized, with shelves arranged according to genre. Jan and her kids soon found the books they wanted and had to leave, but Marie and I stayed on, still dazed by the shelves we had to plow through. The warehouse was stuffy, and the dust was starting to make me sneeze and itch, but we didn’t want to miss out on any good finds.

After much deliberation, I settled on five books:

Anno’s Alphabet; a Madeline carousel book; a trade paperback copy of Big Fish; a turtleback copy of Things Fall Apart (for mooching); and my favorite in the bunch: Swine Lake —all for P263 (less than $6)!

Marie and I were sweaty and dust-streaked by the time we were done and we had to run to the meeting for the Mockingjay launch, but we were glad we decided to go to the warehouse sale. Marie took home quite a haul — workbooks and activity books for her niece and nephew, a computer book, a crafts book, a trivia book, and several novels.

Bags crammed full!

The Books For Less Great Warehouse Sale runs until Aug. 30, 8 am – 5 pm at  643 Mercedez Ave (in front of La Consolacion College) Bgy San Miguel, Pasig.

  2. Nakabili din ako sa knila ng harbound copy ng The Historian by Elizabeth Kostova and Bartimaeus Series: Ptolemy’s Gate by Jonathan Stroud for 50 pesos each. Nkakaubos ng pera sa tingin pa lang. hahaha…

  3. Small comfort pala I don’t live in Manila or else I’d be in even poorer state. Naiinggit ako na di ko malaman kung bakit. Hehe
Daming books naman dun, Bloo..puwedeng mag-camping kasi for sure it will take me days to finish traipsing over the aisles. Hehe

And oh, I have S. Collins’ Underland Chronicles pero until book 3 lang. If you find extra copies of books 4 + 5, puwede magpabili tapos bayaran nalang kita (paperback lang kasi I started with paperbacks eh)? Di bah, great negosyo ‘yon? Parang personal shopper pero books lang concentration mo. ^_^

  4. No more book shopping til your TBR shrinks! – at least that’s what I tell myself when I see the bookstore sale signs everywhere these days. But it’s hard to resist. Good thing I don’t have time to go to this. There’s a Books for Less right across my son’s preschool so I spend most mornings there browsing and never leave without a purchase. Bad bad bad!

  5. hello there! I started following your blog because you give me loads of ideas about various must-read books. Thanks for all the info. I wonder if I would be able to drop by that warehouse as well. Keep reading! ^^,
