Before my week gets all-out crazy (it’s Book Fair week, after all), I’m channeling Zen mode right now and blogging about one of my favorite topics — Harry Potter!

It’s a significant time for Harry Potter fans, as September marks the 15th anniversary of Harry Potter, and Scholastic is celebrating it with the release of a new set of covers by critically acclaimed artist Kazu Kibuishi, best known for his #1 New York Times bestselling graphic novel series, Amulet.

Cut-Price Loot!

So the NBS Cut-Price Sale is ongoing until this weekend, and while I’ve imposed a one-bag limit on my book shopping (e.g. I cannot exceed one reasonably-sized bag at any given time), the results aren’t half bad…

Five branches (Shangri-la, Glorietta, Greenbelt, Greenhills, and Cash & Carry) later, check out what I scored (so far…) at this year’s Cut-Price Sale. Grand total under P1500.

August has been, to say the least, a struggle, what with work in full swing, the tension-filled flood watch (Ground floor. Again. Ridiculous!), the ongoing post-flood cleanup (UGH), and yeah, top that off with dengue fever paranoia.

While my world’s all kinds of crazy, one thing’s definitely on track — the 2013 Filipino Readers’ Choice Awards. In the past couple of weeks, the FRCA committee (read: Tina, Tarie, and yours truly) has set the ball rolling for the FRCA’s second straight year, and after wading through the nominations sent in by readers, voila, the Public Voting phase for FRCA is now live! Squee!

Winner: Tall Story Giveaway!

I’d been called away on an out of town business trip while the giveaway was ongoing, and work has piled up since I got back, but finally, here is the winner of my Tall Story giveaway.

I know a lot more people wanted to join in that bout of technical difficulties the site was experiencing, but given that I’d already extended once, I thought it would be unfair to those people who joined from the start. I actually tried looking for more copies of the book but alack, apparently Tall Story is sold out in bookstores in Manila — the winner is extra lucky I’d been saving this copy for ages.
