I’m back! I hope the holidays have treated everyone well. I’ve been busy doing a lot of cooking, catching up with old friends, crafting, and fangirling (yes, still in a tizzy from all the Doctor Who and Sherlock feels), started work again this week and rang in the new year with the Flippers last night, hence the slight delay.
So, it’s January 2014, which means this blog has been online for 5 years. Blogging is something I really enjoy doing, and I realize I’ve missed the regular exercise, so it’s something I am making more time for this year. I even put up a Facebook page and Twitter, so feel free to hound me for new posts :p
I’ll backtrack a little — here’s my holiday greeting card, in case you missed it on Facebook:
My gift to the Flippers this year was a handmade “bacon” set, which included two bacon rasher bookmarks, a Francis Bacon (teeheehee!) aphorism magnet and an FFP bottlecap pin.

Seeing as most of us channeled resources towards Typhoon Haiyan / Yolanda relief, it’s a year when thoughtful gifts are even more appreciated. So for this awesome bookish holiday haul, thank you, friends! Thank you to Sana & Abi for the personalized notebooks, Peter and Rhett for the custom bookmarks, Marie for the book club journal, Ajie for the gift tags, Shani for the Harry Potter accessories, and Mika for Bibliophile’s Devotional (ESP, I swear) and the lovely copy of TLP and my sister for the huge chocolate frog. And of course, industry friends Scholastic and National Book Store for the ever-thoughtful holiday packages.

Last night was spent ringing in the new year with the Flippers, not with a book discussion but with a cheese party (it all started with an online cheese quiz — long story). As FFP marks its 7th year this 2014, I’ve never been more grateful to have made such great friends, both in reading life and real life.
I even made cheese tasting booklets for the occasion:
We had cheese names…
And a lot of cheese…
Plus, a little BSG on the side (alas, I was executed by a Cylon president!).

<and I’m reserving space for the group shot none of us remembered to take. But there should be one taken by Gege’s brother.>
Definitely a fantastic new year party. Mad props to our hostess with the mostest, Gege and her lovely place in Antipolo, Seraphim.
I’m working off the cheese high with a recap of my 2013 in books. To be posted soon. Meanwhile, Happy New Year, and to borrow from Sherlock, many happy returns. Cheers!
