What I’ve been busy with

You’ve probably been wondering about the sporadic posting for the past couple of weeks… Well, on top of other things going crazy as the holidays draw nearer, I’ve been busy working on a piece for a special group exhibit with the most awesome illustrators ever!

Lookee —  it’s Blowing Boxes!

Blowing Boxes, til Dec 29 at 1/of Gallery, 2/F Shops at Serendra, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. Gallery hours: Mon- Sat 1-9pm

I’ve been busy working on my box, and I pretty much can’t do anything (other than watch tv) while painting, so I’ve been away from blogging for the past couple of weeks.

Oh, and yeah, painting six faces of a cube turned out to be harder than I thought, and I ended up cramming the last four faces in one night (and still managed 3 hours of sleep!).

Here, some photos:

Blowing Boxes is actually an offshoot of an illustration workshop we had back in June with German illustrator Sabine Ditmer at the National Library, initiated by Goethe Institut (I am trying to remember where I stuck those photos — I’ll update this when I find them).

The exhibit features pieces by the following illustrators: Marcus Nada / Blooey Singson / Jomike Tejido / Robert Alejandro / Daniel Tayona / Leo Alvarado / Vane Tamayo / AJ Omandac / Pergy Acuna/ Ariel Santillan / Conrad Raquel / Kora D. Albano / Philip Reytiran / Leslie Lim / Abi Goy / Guia Salumbides / Zeus Bascon / Clio Tantoco / Gigi Lapid / Beth Parrocha / Ray Zapanta / Robbie Bautista / Aldy Aguirre / Totet de Jesus / Isa Natividad / Ray Sunga / Serj Bumatay/ Liza Flores

…Ta-dah!

Our opening reception is on Friday, Dec 11 at 6 pm at the gallery, so do drop by if you can! It’s one of the most fun exhibits I’ve joined, and I really enjoyed working on this one.

See you on Friday night!

  1. :) It’s certainly a feast for the eyes. Even while we were setting it up passersby were stopping… and staring! We’re really looking forward to the opening reception tomorrow :D

  2. Blooey, this is the first time I’ve seen your illustrations. They’re great! Wow, you’re so talented. You’re a writer and an artist as well!

Wonderful idea : floating illustrated boxes as a visual treat.

I hope I can drop by and see that exhibit as I’m scheduled to celebrate the Holidays in Manila. I just have a short week so I hope I’ll have the time. :)

  3. Thanks Jo! Come to think of it, I rarely post my illustrations on this blog… Maybe next year, I can post more of them. I’m working on some projects right now.

Hope you can drop by too — it’s difficult to capture the full effect in photos, especially for the see-through areas. The exhibit is near the biggest Fully Booked branch in the metro so you can hit two birds with one stone when you have the time :)
