The Really Tiny Book Light

Reading in the dark has not been the same for me since my trusty Harry Potter Lumos Lightwedge went out of commission — two of the batteries have leaked shut down both of the narrow terminals and I still haven’t found a way to take them out without destroying the device. I’ve contacted the Lightwedge people and they said it’s outside the warranty and they don’t even make the Lumos anymore.

In my search for a substitute, I came across “The Really Tiny Book Light” at National Book Store and decided to get the Tiny Pink so I could get some nighttime reading done once again, especially since the past two months have been crammed full with out of town business trips.

Reading in the Dark

I’m one of those people who like reading in the dark — there’s just something so much fun about curling up in bed and sending yourself off to la-la land with your bedtime reading. And then there are the real flashlight-worthy books: the books you read that scare you silly or excite you almost to the point of apoplexy but you’re but unable to put down because they’re so fantastically good that you end up taking the book under the safety of your blanket and reading with your flashlight on.

When I was younger, I was forbidden to stay up late reading (because given a choice I wouldn’t sleep) so I smuggled  a penlight under the blankets. Now that I’m older, my mom can’t do anything about it (although she grumbles from time to time), so I’ve got all sorts of book lights on hand — a Lumos Lightwedge (waaah, currently out of commission, unless I can find a way to dislodge the battery that’s stuck to the terminal of the narrow battery chute — suggestions, anyone?), an LED mini-lamp, a clip-on lamp, and a squeeze-powered LED flashlight — so I can read all I want, even when the lights are out.

Harry Potter Lumos Book Light

I can’t believe I finally have a solution for all my late-night reading!I was over at Fully Booked at Powerplant when I chanced upon a few more Lumos book lights still on sale at Powerbooks. I remember fellow INKie and Harry Potter (and Snape) diehard Jovan telling me she got hers on sale.

Wow, I was amazed that it was only P1000 from the original P2200 and it came with a free soft case (Harry Potter special too, with house badge on one side and the HP logo on the other side) worth P550!

So Janeh and I each bought ourselves a set, because we both like reading in the dark, and we both love Harry Potter (uhh, do I still need to say that, after our recent hijinks? hehe). I got Gryffindor (no more Ravenclaw) and she got Slytherin (no more Hufflepuff).
