Preview: The Viper’s Nest (39 Clues #7)

I’m writing a newspaper review of The 39 Clues book 7: The Viper’s Nest by Peter Lerangis, but I just finished it tonight (I couldn’t put it down, even while getting my hair done at the salon) and I’m dying to spill the beans on what happens in this one, but of course I won’t, so here’s a sneak peek instead.

(Spoiler free sneak peek after the cut).

1) Dan and Amy get ahold of a stockpile of important data.

2) Someone evades death yet another time.

3) The destination is exotic.

4) Grace gets around — Dan and Amy find more of Grace’s friends, and they make an unexpected visit to one of Grace’s houses.

5) Dan and Amy stumble into yet another stronghold (and steal a valuable item there).

6) The Kabras have to slum it at the airport.

7) We find out some more about Nellie (but  not nearly as much as we want to).

8) Dan takes the lead in this book.

9) Amy finds another love interest, and gets emotions she never knew she was capable of.

10) MOST IMPORTANT: We find out what Cahill branch Dan and Amy belong to! (Aiee!)

This is definitely one of the more exciting 39 Clues books so far, and gahhh it has a cliffhanger ending and it’s three months to the next one! I can’t wait!!!!

Will post my full length review of this book soon, so check back on this blog!

  1. I’ve enjoyed the series a lot so far, it packs great adventures in each volume, and I always look forward to reading the next one (it helps that one book is released every three months!) :)

It’s really good for the middle-reader age group.

  2. Ack! I’ve been reading this series too and Book 6 is waiting for me to pick it up at the library!! I wondered which branch they belonged to and if we would ever find out! I thought Book 7 was published Feb. 2?

  3. Hi Jeannie, yup it was released on Feb 2. I just posted a peek into the book because a lot of people haven’t read it yet, and I don’t want to post any spoilers.

  4. can you tell me how the case was solved? my son read this and i can’t figure it out. he started reading this book instead of the first of the series and he was a little lost. we know that the branch is the madrigals, but how did they figure it out. thank you.
