Tomorrow Right now, a signed copy of Suzanne Collin’s The Hunger Games and a signed copy of JK Rowling’s Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire will be are up for grabs in an online auction.
Update (13 Jul): The signed Hunger Games is currently at $61, GOF currently at $201. They’ve also got a signed copy of Meg Cabot’s How to be Popular at $30!

Friends in the book industry are auctioning off these treasures for a good cause: to raise funds for Ms. Letty Cid, a beloved literacy advocate currently battling lung cancer, while her son is battling cancer of the throat.
I’ll probably run out of money eons before the highest bidder, but for an important cause, I will happily bow out of the competition for people who are in the position to give the most help so that Ms. Letty can get the best care possible.
Here are the auction mechanics:
1. To join the auction, bidders must be a member of Book Bids FB account (note: I guess this means you Like the page)
2. Bidders must email weloveletty@gmail.com to register. Email must include the following details:
Complete name
Complete address
Contact numbers
Bid
3. Subject of email must indicate the title of the book that they are bidding for: HP4 or Hunger Games.
4. The opening bid for Hunger Games is $40 and HP4 is $180. (now at $60 and $201 respectively as of last update)
5. Bid increments shall be $3.
6. The topmost bid and bidder every day shall be announced at the Book Bids FB account daily.
7. Bidding begins on July 9, 2010 and ends on July 17 at 8pm (Philippine time).
8. The final highest bidder shall be announced in the FB account the following day and shall receive an email on how to deposit the payment and get the book.
9. Final bid price is exclusive of shipping cost.
10. Money transfer should be made in the next 48 hours, otherwise the second highest bidder gets a chance to get the book at the second highest bid price given.
