Hello, and welcome back to Bookmarked! It’s 2017, and that means I’ve been blogging for 8 years now. While these days it takes more juggling for me to carve out time to blog, I have no plans of stopping, so thank you for sticking it out with me!
2016 was certainly a busy year for me, mainly because we had to move out of the house for renovations and move back in again in November. It was totally stressful but it paved the way for my major bookish achievement of the year: getting all my books out of storage and shelving them!
While I’m not yet ready for a video tour (major pruning to do!), here’s a peek at it (if you haven’t seen it on Facebook or IG):
There’s a section just for Harry Potter books, of course!
Speaking of Harry Potter, it’s been a year of Potter, what with Cursed Child and Fantastic Beasts both coming out. We also had a Harryween party… and I still owe you a post for all my year-end Potterhead shenanigans (haha, see below). But 2017 is shaping up to be another year of Potter, wink wink, and you’ll find out soon enough on this blog.
2016 was also a great year for readalongs — with my cousin Dianne and I living in different cities now, we’ve made a habit of reading along to the same books every so often, and discussing them over Viber. It helps with the separation anxiety, and we have a lot of fun doing it. This is one of the gifts she gave me for Christmas: an awesome set of postcards of the books in our 2016 readalong!
There’s a lot of J.K. Rowling in it, of course — we reread Harry Potter (for the nth time!), Cursed Child, Fantastic Beasts, Career of Evil. We also reread one of our old favorites, the entire Cirque du Freak series (nostalgia fest!), which we discovered because it was recommended by J.K. Rowling. We also read Rebecca, And Then There Were None, and The Name of the Rose together, and I’ve finally gotten Dianne to read Megan Whalen Turner so I’m reading along with her. We’ve finished The Thief in December, and we’re due to start Queen of Attolia next week. We’re all set for the titles for at least the next few months, which should be fun.
Will save my best and worst reads for later, after the annual FFP book discussion at the end of the month.
