First day NBS Cut-Price Sale loot!

Yesterday was the first day of the annual National Book Store Cut-Price Sale, which runs until Aug. 21 across all National Book Store branches.

All day yesterday I’d been stewing restlessly over my laptop, which got frozen in sleep mode the night before and then refused to wake up. I decided to take it over to the service center this weekend, and I was worrying about the possible expense that would cost. And so I was in retail therapy mode this evening when I went on my first NBS Cut-Price Sale recon mission.

I don’t think they’ve unpacked everything yet, because there was just one table outside and a couple half-tables inside the store (that means I shall return!), but nevertheless, the loot was awesome!

From the bargain bin:

And at 50% off, I think these titles were too good to pass up:

I was skipping happily out the bookstore!

But yes, tomorrow is another day…. and the next 21 days will be filled with happy book hunting! And what do you know, I managed to get my laptop running normally again! :)

Life’s good!

  1. There was a cut-price sale?!!! I didn’t know that. I am most definitely going. Thank’s for the heads-up. I hope I find a Room by Emma Donaghue too. People have been saying so many good things about it. =)

  2. Oh noes, it’s started!! So much for my dwindling TBR pile – since I spent 10 entire days reading an uber long ebook, the real book pile hasn’t shrunk any, and now looks like it will grow again!

  3. Yeeeees! I bought Jennifer Egan’s A Visit From the Goon Squad yesterday and didn’t know that there’s a sale. I’m surprised that I saved at least P200 off the original price!

  4. Congrats on your stash! I stopped by NBS Cubao and Trinoma earlier today but wasn’t able to buy anything. I hope they get new stocks soon because I’m itching to buy books. :P

    1. The Cash and Carry branch has a great YA stash for the sale, saw a lot of Eva Ibbotson and Darren Shan titles, and teen chick lit.

I want to go see the stuff at Bestsellers in Galleria! One of the Flippers reported a nice selection there.

  5. You have no idea how hard it is for me to smuggle my nbs loot last night. So many good YA titles at SM North for only 99. It’s going to be the death of me. And there was these crazy girls with their push carts going around the bargain bins and getting all the books they can. One girl filled one of her pushcarts with tales of the beedle the bard copies. She got an evil glare from everyone! It was as if we we’re on a Fullybooked book grab challenge. NBS is making me a very very naughty boy!

  6. Blooey! I think you should really check out Bestsellers in Galleria. Bought Abundance of Katherine by John Green, and Leviathan both for 99 bucks! I actually gasped when I saw both books. haha

  7. Michael — I know, there’s always good stuff there. But it’s so far from me!!!

I liked An Abundance of Katherines!
At the MIBF last year, I got a bargain hardcover of John Green’s Looking for Alaska naman, for P30!
