Day 1 at #MIBF2017

I’m home from Day 1 of the Manila International Book Fair, thank you to everyone who reminded me I have to put up a new post today. Pressure, pressure — I am attempting to post this as fast as I can before Day 2 can overtake me. Haha.

Today was opening day so work pretty much kept me occupied.

The event was opened by media personality Boy Abunda and Bro. Armin Luistro, FSC (former Education Secretary and president of De La Salle Philippines & Philippine Business for Social Progress); with Isa Garcia Jacinto (OPRAP), Ani Almario (BDAP President / Adarna House), Jovita de Jesus (F&J de Jesus); Xandra Ramos Padilla (Managing Director, National Book Store) and Irene Lloren (Primetrade Asia, organizer of MIBF).

A few photos I managed to snap:

with JB Tapia and Bow Guerrero, and the new Dark Colony installment: Clasificado: The Grinning Niño of Barang
I got myself an owl at Portkey Events

And I haven’t been able to go around much (yet), but some books of interest:

20th anniversary edition! (Tahanan)
Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo (Fully Booked)
Peanuts collection (National Book Store)
Ito ang Diktadura and other new releases (Adarna, 2/F)
Marie Kondo, manga edition (National Book Store)
Republika! (Comic Odyssey, 2/F)
quiet books and soft educational toys (Merr-C, 2/F)
Welcome to Night Vale books 1&2 (National Book Store)
Atwood (National Book Store)
The lovely Elpidio and Alicia (National Historical Commission)
great selection of picture books from ABC, a publisher from Mindanao (ABC Educational Development Center, 2/F)
craft books — lots of paper cutting titles this year (National Book Store)
the P20 shelf at Tradewinds

I was supposed to go around tonight after my last guest had left but I got distracted by National Book Store’s flash sale. Today it was YA and children’s books at 30% off (I nearly missed it so I panicked haha. So much for all the destashing I did earlier this year…) — they’re offering a different genre for the daily flash sale at the booth, so I’m kind of afraid for the next four days.

More tomorrow, when I have time to go around.

The MIBF runs until Sunday, Sept. 17, 10 am to 8 pm at SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.

  1. Hanggang ngayon, di ko pa rin kayang basahin yung Elpidio and Alicia book. :( :( :( Ang cute ng Peanuts collection na book!
