Linger

My copy of Linger by Maggie Stiefvater has been sitting on my shelf since Christmas (it was a present from friends at Scholastic), and I’ve been meaning to read it for the longest time.

You guys probably know that I often run in the opposite direction of paranormal romances, but I read Shiver last year, and thought the series showed promise. When I learned last week that Forever, the conclusion to the trilogy is coming out this month, I made quick work of reading Linger, and the two dozen or so pending book reviews will have to wait, because I didn’t expect to get so caught up in this book.

Everything is Illuminated


I’ve long been intrigued by Jonathan Safran Foer; I’ve heard so many people raving about him. So when I saw there was a 2-in-1 hardcover volume with both Everything is Illuminated and Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close at National Book Store (so pretty!), I figured it was time to start reading at least one of his novels.

The Comical Hotch Potch Doll


As you may have seen in the past couple of years, I have been collecting book-related toys and thingamajigs. A couple of months ago, my brother brought home a wonderful Mini Hotch Potch doll to add to my growing collection!

The Hotch Potch doll is inspired by The Comical Hotch Potch, or The Alphabet turn’d Posture-Master, a hand-colored print created by English publisher Carrington Bowles in London in 1782.

The Girl who was on Fire

 

The Hunger Games movie is well under way, and my dismay has been growing with each casting announcement from the production. While I’m eager for a Hunger Games fix, I’m not so sure the film will live up to my expectations.

I received an electronic ARC of the book, The Girl Who Was on Fire a few months back, and I’ve been reading bits and pieces of it a few times each week.
