I loved Jonathan Stroud’s Bartimaeus Trilogy! While I was deeply satisfied with the series, I was really sad (read: in tears!) to see it end!
This morning, a friend of mine (thank you, Cecille!) tagged me in a Facebook post announcing something I did not see coming — another Bartimaeus novel! Squee!
The wisecracking djinni Bartimaeus makes a comeback in The Ring of Solomon!
As alluded to in the footnotes throughout the series, Bartimaeus has served hundreds of magicians during his 5,010 year career. Now, for the first time, fans will go back in time with the djinni, to Jerusalem and the court of King Solomon in 950s BC. Only in this adventure, it seems the great Bartimaeus has finally met his match. He’ll have to contend with an unpleasant master and his sinister servant, and runs into just a “spot” of trouble with King Solomon’s magic ring….
According to the official site, Iit’s actually the prequel to the Bartimaeus trilogy.
The US release is dated Oct. 14 while the US release is November 2.
I wonder which bookstore gets it first in the Philippines — my hardcover trilogy is the US edition, but I’m partial to the UK edition this time around.
I can’t wait!!!!
Ooohh!
I am excited as well!
Yey!
I think I’ve read somewhere that there will be another Batrimaeus book, and I thought it was only a dream. hahahaha
tama pala!
:D
Yay for Bartimaeus! :) I just love that djinni!
I have yet to read this trilogy! I keep meaning to, but then I look at my groaning shelves and wonder where I will keep these doorstopping books!
Iya, the series saved me from despair post-Harry Potter. I think you’ll like it!
aye! bartimaeus! will get the UK version too.
reading stroud (heroes of the valley) at the moment while beating a huge deadline :-)
Looking forward to your review of Heroes of the Valley, I don’t have a copy of that yet :)
Ha! I’m so looking forward to this one too. I couldn’t believe it when I first saw it in Amazon like I was in some kind of a dream. No more Kitty and Nathaniel but Bartimaeus alone should make it one hell of a ride again. Which reminds me.. I lost my copy of Golem’s Eye. :( I got the US edition too but only the paperbacks. That UK edition looks really nice though.
Haven’t seen it here yet…
Hee this is exciting! :D
I know! I really want to read this already!
