#FantasticBeasts: #Harryween Party Recap

My cousin Dianne and I hadn’t been planning on another Harry Potter party so soon after the last one, and we wanted to focus on reading Harry Potter and the Cursed Child when it was released earlier this year. We think we’re just about done doing the run-of-the-mill Hogwarts-style Potter party (after having done it so many times, I guess?), but we couldn’t resist a Fantastic Beasts party in anticipation of the upcoming film, so we reserved it for Halloween this year.

We weren’t fans of the original movie franchise (and even stopped watching the films at some point), but I think we’re more open to Fantastic Beasts simply because we have no existing head canon for it. It just sucks that we’ll be in different cities when the film finally hits the big screen next week, but we’ll surely be messaging back and forth about the film when both of us finally get to watch it.

July had been an incredibly busy month, with my involvement in the NCBD activities, and my cousin had just moved across the country (read: separation anxiety like I’d never known before). But because it’s Harry’s 35th birthday and JKR’s 50th, we thought the time was ripe for another Harry Birthday.

Snapeday!

Last weekend, I was feeling bad about finally taking down my Harry Potter Christmas tree when a friend was trying to console me by saying there would be other Harry Potter holidays. I happened to glance at the calendar and realized Severus Snape’s birthday (b. Jan 9, 1960) was coming up, and quickly asked my HP partner in crime, Dianne, what we were doing to celebrate his birthday this year.

The two of us normally go out to dinner and drink to Severus Snape, but we wondered if we could pull off a small party this year. Luckily, our favorite weekend hangout, Libreria Bookstore in Cubao X, graciously agreed to host us, and with under a week to pull things together, we made plans for Snapeday.
