Meanwhile, all across the world, Harry Potter fans are celebrating these new milestones — both the play and the book — in the nearly 20-year old fandom.

Reviews of the West End play are out, though the internet can be a nasty hotbed of spoilers so I’m avoiding those while the book isn’t out yet.

I particularly enjoyed this article: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/blog/sci-fi-fantasy/growing-up-with-harry-potter-and-hopefully-growing-old-with-him-too/, because the voice sounds so much like my cousin and me.  The conclusion had me sniffling — it captures exactly what this new book means for Harry Potter fans of our generation:

Harry Potter and the Cursed Child has brought that feeling back. There will be midnight releases again. There will be more films. Harry is older now, starting to gray, just like his fans, also building his own family, still trying to find his way. It’s been an honor to grow up with him, and I can’t wait to grow old with him, too. I imagine one day I’ll be a wizened old lady, lining up at midnight to get my hands on the next Harry Potter book. I honestly can’t wait.

Haha, my cousin and I have been obsessing in the last few days (or weeks, or whatever).

(Get a copy of The Cursed Child, or else…)

“What do you see, when you look in the mirror?” “I? I see myself holding a copy of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child.”

And some trouble with Snape:
