The Week in Loot

In case you’re wondering why I haven’t posted in the past few days, it’s because I’m trapped in the holiday frenzy — Christmas shopping to complete, presents to wrap, parties to attend and the horrible city traffic. Plus the dawn masses have started and I wake up at 4am to go, so I’m running on very little energy at the moment. Hopefully normal blogging resumes after Christmas, but I’ll try and post more before then.

Anyway, I was supposed to be shopping for books on other people’s wishlists, but they’ve been elusive so far, and I’ve illicitly gone a-looting for myself (I promised not to buy any more books for myself until Christmas, but I’ve given up on that) because well, the holiday stress was getting to me and book shopping is therapeutic (and yes, I have no self-control)!

Last day loot!

I couldn’t help it; I had to go back!

I already made off with a pretty hefty loot from the last couple of times I visited the National Book Store Christmas Book Bazaar, but I wanted to catch the last day of the bargain sale so I wouldn’t have any regrets (yes, you can see how seriously I take book sales) afterwards, and I am so glad I went.

More Christmas book sales!

I like giving books as gifts, especially when I’m familiar enough with the person to know what kind of books they like, but I’m way behind on this year’s Christmas shopping so I’ll have to shop double time in the next two weeks.

If like me, you have some books to check off the Christmas list, here are some places worth checking out:

Book Bazaar Loot!

Last week I talked about how much I was looking forward to the National Book Store Christmas Book Bazaar and by the time Nov. 19th rolled around, I was all stoked to go book hunting. But alas, I got caught in traffic coming from the other side of the metro, got caught in more traffic on the way to the book bazaar, and by the time I got there, it was 45 minutes ’til closing time and I must say, I do not shop well under pressure!

So I had to go back. Saturday was out of the question, as my day was packed with the Lumina Pandit Tour (yes, I know, I owe you that post — I’m wading through hundreds of photos!) and the End of the Affair discussion, so on Sunday, after my morning visit to Iya’s place to check out her advent calendars (have you seen them? get one at Tie Me Up Buttercup before December 1!), she dropped me off at the book bazaar and I happily dug in!

Warehouse Raid!

I hadn’t been planning on going to the Books for Less warehouse sale, because it’s quite far from my usual haunts and I had no idea how to get there. But when Flipper friend Marie asked if I wanted to go, I readily agreed — when it comes to book hunting, I really don’t need to be asked twice!

We met at another bookstore around mid-afternoon — I just had to get a copy of Suzanne Collins’ Gregor and the Prophecy of Bane, because I already finished book 1 and I had book 3 waiting at home. Then we took the MRT to EDSA Shangri-la, where fellow Flipper JanĀ  (thanks, Jan!) would pick us up so we could all go together (Jan discovered the warehouse sale earlier this week and reported that she had gotten over 20 books, so we were all curious about it!).
