My Christmas Wishlist

Just a  little over a month before Christmas, and there are oodles of great books out! I’ve been trying to avoid bookstores for a past few weeks because the temptation to do some early Christmas shopping (for myself) is too overpowering.

But just in case you want to make this old bookworm really happy this Christmas, here’s the wishlist:

1) The Little Prince pop-up (sold out at A Different Book Store in Serendra — I hope the other bookstores order this book too, my privilege cards are itching to be used!)

2) Fables Deluxe Edition, vol. 1 (issues 1-10) by Bill Willingham (Author), Mark Buckingham (Illustrator), Steve Leialoha (Illustrator), Lan Medina (Illustrator) Inkdeath by Cornelia Funke

3) A non-cheesy hardcover copy of  Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (unabridged)

4) Witch and Wizard by James Patterson

5) The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson (trade paperback, please!) and the succeeding volumes

6) The Elegance of the Hedgehog by Muriel Barbery

7) The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness

8 ) Shiver by Maggie Stiefvater

9) The Adventures of Tintin (catalogue-type, not the hardcovers): Tintin and the Alph-Art; The Seven Crystal Balls; The Crab with the Golden Claws; The Shooting Star; Explorers on the Moon; Tintin in Tibet or Tintin and the Picaros.

10) Kitchen Princess by Natsumi Ando, vol. 2 and up

11) Trese vol. 3 by Budjette Tan and Kajo Baldisimo

12) Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella

13) Alexandria by Nick Bantock

14) Blindness by Jose Saramago

15) The Countess Below Stairs by Eva Ibbotson

16) Howl’s Moving Castle  by Diana Wynne Jones (trade paperback please!)

17) Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde (to be released in December?!?)

18) The Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins, books 2, 4, and 5 (Prophecy of Bane, Marks of Secret, Code of Claw)

19) Uncle John’s Bathroom Reader (except for 10th anniversary), non-specialized topics (not Sports or History, etc.)

20) Any of the Post Secret books! Woot! Thank you Peter for giving me 2 PostSecret books! (12/11)

or you can check out my legendary Bookmooch wishlist!

or surprise me! I love getting book (and book-related) presents!

No pressure on my friends, though :) The list-making keeps me from going on a book store raid!

  1. Didn’t know there’s now a deluxe edition of Fables. I wonder if the paper they used there is better than in the TPBs. If so this is definitely one for my wish list too!

  2. Great list! The only books on that list I’ve read are Twenties Girl (which a lot more touching than I thought it would be), and Blindness (err…slightly disturbing, but very good!). I also really want Shiver and have almost bought it for myself a couple times. Maybe I will if I don’t get it for Christmas.

  3. I loved Shiver. Though I’m not sure if you’d like it too. From some of your posts, I gathered that you didn’t really like Twilight. And those who didn’t like Twilight tend to have the same reaction towards Shiver. But then again, that’s just from some of the reviews I’ve read. Hope you like it anyway! :)

  4. @Cecille- I haven’t seen it yet but it’s hardcover. And I’ve always wanted to read Fables so it seems the best place to start :)

  5. @Aloi- Why not? Haha. I haven’t read him yet, although I have one of his books in my TBR. I really want to read Blindness, as I’ve heard a lot of Flippers rave about it.

  6. @Austenfan – I’ve been really curious about the book, haha. Yeah, I’m definitely no Twilight fan, but who knows, I might like this one :)

  7. How would you fancy a hardback copy of Little Women. It has a 1906 handwritten inscription on the flyleaf and is a little frayed at the junction between the front cover and top of spine, but otherwise in pretty good nick for 103! Gill

  8. OMG Gill! That would be awesome, if it won’t be too much trouble for you to send! Surface mail is absoluutely fine.

I can’t thank you enough for everything. I just got the Mercer Meyer book you sent today, by the way, and I love it!!!!

  9. Hi Stephanie, I usually do one for the holidays although my year-round wishlist is on my BookMooch page :) My birthday’s around a month after Christmas so my wishlist often applies.

  10. heya blooey! well, i’ve read two books by saramago (all the names and the double) and both didn’t disappoint though saramago has a writing style that sort of grows on you (no periods, just pages and pages of run on sentences and comma).

as for blindness, i wish i had never watched the movie. it was horrible. i bet the book just didn’t translate well on screen… i’ll look for your review once you’ve read it.

and how strange it is that you don’t have a single roald dahl book on this list. or is it because you’re gor very single one already?

  11. Hi Aloi, I think I’ve got Roald Dahl pretty much covered,

As for Saramago, I’ve always wanted to explore his literature. I have All the Names already, if I don’t get Blindness perhaps I’ll start with that one.

  12. Most on your list is one mine, too, except for four books. Trese would be the first very local novel I really really want to have, after Art Seblis’ review. Unfortunately, National Bookstore here does not have any stock.

LOL at “A non-cheesy hardcover copy of Little Women by Louisa May Alcott”.

Here’s crossing our fingers that we both get most of these books for X’mas. :D

  13. Great picks! I just added Twenties Girl to my wishlist on myregistry.com. Is it weird that my christmas list is almost entirely comprised of books? Haha!
