I’m reading Game of Thrones this weekend…

Go

Let me show you why!

I got a lovely present today…

(George R.R. Martin fans, please make sure you’re sitting down before scrolling down further)

National Book Store was at the recent San Diego Comic-Con, and a couple of weeks ago I was sharing that video of George R.R. Martin greeting Filipino fans (the one posted on Facebook by Neutral Grounds) with my Geek Fight team, because my teammates are HUGE fans.

NBS had a 7 Days of Comic-Con giveaway promo, and they gave away a whole lot of swag from the Comic-Con. And then tonight I discovered, National Book Store brought me back a souvenir from the Comic-Con: a signed first edition hardcover of A Dance with Dragons

The ribbon was so pretty, but I hastily slid it off the book

and…

hold your breath…

Squee!

Closer up…

Squee! Squee!

and even closer up:

Squee! Squee! Squee!

Isn’t that AWESOME?!? If you think those squees are too much, you should have heard me live!

I kept stroking the page reverently until I realized I was probably transferring acid onto the page. Hehe. So enough stroking.

So now I’ve decided to move up GOT on my reading list — I was actually reserving it for the upcoming 4-day weekend for some uninterrupted reading. I’ve been meaning to read it for months now, because I know the tv series is good; I just don’t want to watch it without reading it first.

I’m waiting to see if the stores will have the hardcovers or at least the trade paperbacks, but this’ll do in a pinch:

Happy reading to me, and a big thank you to National Book Store! :)

Oh, and NBS is currently giving away a Game of Thrones boxed set — check out the mechanics on their FB page!

  1. Wow! I hope you make a review real soon! :D Been having second thoughts on reading that because of some of the reviews I saw online, so I’ll be waiting for yours this time! ;P

  2. Aha. It’s not JUST any DwD hardcover, it’s a DwD hardcover with Martin’s greetings!

Yes, you na, Bloo. You na XD

Personally, I would have wanted the “mini-Ice” letter opener they gave away during the local release of the series. We didn’t get invites to the press event, bummer.

  3. i’m so jealous of that signed copy!!! just started reading game of thrones after watching the hbo series and so far im loving it. don’t know why i just discovered the series now!

  4. *envious*
    :)

BTW, do you know anyone who sells their second hand copy of any of the books in A Song of Ice and Fire?

A Clash of King, probably? since i’m already done with the first book.

  5. I just started reading it earlier this year… And I even dream about it. Oh, how lucky you are!!! I was so engrossed looking at the greeting and signature that I didn’t catch how you got a copy. Oh, I’m so dying of envy now! (Even 3 years after!) ^_^
